Far too often, we concentrate on the "celebrity" Southerners such as Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, and Jefferson Davis, and these were men who fully deserve a prominant place in history. This section of Confederate Colonel is to remember those great Southerners who, while usually not found in the history books, were the people who made the valor of Lee, Jackson, Davis, and others possible. These were the men and women who served with quiet dignity. They served both their country and their families.
