Confederate Memorial Day Celebration
Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery
Ormond Beach, Florida

Confederate Memorial Day was celebrated on the 100th anniversary of the Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery in Ormond Beach, Florida. The Confederate Sons Association, along with United Daughters of the Confederacy, and other organizations (we will list them as soon as we compile a list) organized the event. A rough count came up with approximately 250 people attending.

Before the service, each grave in the cemetery had a Confederate iron cross and a flag placed on it. The iron cross had a black shroud covering it. A Confederate soldier stood guard over each grave.
As each name was read, the shround was removed...
and the soldier saluted.

Three cannon shots saluted those being honored.
A 21-gun salute of three 7-gun volleys was alternated with the cannon shots.
